Tour Guides 'We Only Accept U.S. Dollar' Oil on canvas
Natalie Kosnar is an Australian artist living and working in Melbourne, Australia.
Whilst her work is predominantly painting, she has produced art works in a range of mediums including glass, video and mixed media installations. Throughout all of her work a common theme exists; observations of the people around her and the ways in which humans react and relate to each other. By combining her exploration of contemporary themes with strong traditional technique she is able to create aesthetically beautiful works which challenge the viewers' perception of the world we live in. The influence of Asian art is most evident in her paintings, which she was able to explore further by living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 2008 to 2010.
She has exhibited her work in solo and group shows throughout Australia with a number of works in private collections. In 2005, Natalie received a grant from the City of Melbourne Young Artists program to coordinate a project with a team of artists, producing a mixed media publication titled 'Chaology'. Since returning to Melbourne in 2010, she has been involved in group exhibitions and has also coordinated workshops and developed a public art piece for the City of Casey titled 'Fuse', a permanent artwork on display at The Shed Skate Park.
Natalie's formal education includes a Diploma of Visual Arts followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts via a scholarship at The Victorian College of the Arts. She also completed a Diploma of Education at Melbourne University and is currently an art teacher at Ringwood Secondary College, Melbourne.
